"I discovered Applied Pilates when I was told to do Pilates by a doctor who diagnosed a disc bulge (rather than a pain injection). Because of Teejay and his classes I've never needed that pain injection. He has also helped me with my neck/shoulder pain with his treatments."

"An injury that keeps coming back is not bad luck. It is a position your body keeps finding."
Why people travel from Barnet and Edgware
Hypermobility, recurring strains, and getting back to your sport.
Hypermobile joints do not need more range — they need the strength and control to manage the range they already have. Recurring strains usually point at the same problem from a different direction. The assessment identifies which pattern is producing the injury, and the programme trains the control that stops it returning, rather than treating the tissue again and hoping.

What Barnet and Edgware clients say once it stops recurring.
"The Sogunro Practice has helped me immeasurably. Having started 6 months ago with absolutely no experience, I have felt supported and encouraged from the outset. It’s a very calm and positive atmosphere and Teejay’s experience is the mainstay. I love it there."
"I have been attending Teejay’s Pilates classes for almost 15 years now. There is no question it has improved my core and overall body strength hugely. Teejay, as a physio is so knowledgeable and has instantly diagnosed and treated any injuries I’ve had over the years. I would, without hesitation, highly recommend!"
Ten miles to stop treating it for the fourth time.
Barnet and Edgware are not short of Reformer studios, and a class will make you stronger. What a class cannot do is watch the joint that keeps failing and work out which position it keeps ending up in when it is tired. That takes an hour of assessment first, then control work built at the end of range rather than avoided there. The drive buys the pattern, not the apparatus.
Who travels in from Barnet & Edgware
People whose ankle, knee or hip has gone repeatedly and been strapped, rested and rehabilitated each time. People with a shoulder that subluxes or aches after anything overhead. People who bend further than everyone in the class and are always the ones who get hurt. Plenty arrive after a course of physio that worked until the next time. Underneath it there is often older back pain or sciatica that flares whenever the pattern returns, and some arrive rebuilding after knee replacement or hip replacement.
Clients come from High Barnet, New Barnet, Arkley, Totteridge, Edgware, Mill Hill, Elstree and Borehamwood. Distances from every town we serve are set out on the areas we cover, and neighbouring pages cover Potters Bar, Borehamwood and Shenley & Radlett.
Pilates classes for Barnet and Edgware: what a session involves
The first hour is the Movement Assessment. Where something keeps recurring it works backwards from the failure: which position the joint reaches under fatigue, how much control is there at the end of range rather than the middle, and which muscle stopped holding before the injury happened. The Movement Assessment is £85 (60 minutes, 1-to-1). From there the usual route is the Foundation Programme (£269, three 1-to-1 sessions) and then small-group apparatus classes, capped at seven people, or a 1-to-1 Reformer and apparatus course if closer supervision is wanted. For anyone looking for Pilates classes in Barnet and Edgware, the group sessions here are capped at seven and run by the same practitioner who assessed you.
Because this is a full STOTT Pilates apparatus studio — Reformers, Cadillac / Trapeze Table, Stability Chair, Ladder Barrel, Arc Barrel and Long Box — rather than a Reformer-only room, control can be trained at the end of range with the body supported, which is where a joint that moves too far actually needs the work. Osteolates Therapy handles the soft tissue side when that is what is holding progress up. Prices and memberships
Barnet & Edgware questions, answered
From Barnet it is the A1081 north through South Mimms into London Colney — around ten miles. From Edgware, the A41 or A5 up to the M25 at junction 23, then one junction west to junction 22. The studio is Unit 5, Hertfordshire Business Centre, Alexander Road, AL2 1JG, with free parking directly outside and no time limit. Ground floor and step-free from the car park to the studio door.
Usually less, and almost never as the main thing. A joint that already travels a long way does not need more range, it needs control of the range it has — particularly at the end of it, which is where things give way. Stretching a hypermobile joint often feels good and takes you further into the position that keeps causing the problem.
The Movement Assessment is £85 (60 minutes, 1-to-1). After that: the Foundation Programme is £269 for three 1-to-1 sessions, single 1-to-1 sessions are £95, and a six-session 1-to-1 course is £479 — about £79 a session. Small-group apparatus classes are £32 pay-as-you-go or £299 for a 10-session block, about £30 a session. Memberships start at £129 a month. Full detail is on prices and memberships.
Most Reformer studios teach a class. Here the starting point is an assessment, the programme is built from what it finds, and the whole apparatus range is available rather than one machine. Teejay has 25 years in clinical practice, is STOTT Pilates Full Comprehensive and Rehabilitation certified, a CNHC registered healthcare practitioner, and spent three seasons as rehab Pilates sports therapist at Watford FC. Our work complements medical care — it is not a substitute for diagnosis by your GP or specialist.
That is most of what we do. People arrive when the formal course of treatment has ended, the pain has eased but the confidence has not returned, and nobody has told them what to do next. Clinical Pilates and the after-physio pathway are built for exactly that point.
The studio runs Monday to Thursday 7:30am–7:30pm, Friday 7:30am–5:30pm and Saturday 7:30am–1:30pm. Group classes are booked through the timetable; assessments, 1-to-1 sessions and Osteolates Therapy are arranged through the enquiry form or on 07734 578959.
