The Sogunro Practice · London Colney, St Albans
Why does it keep coming back?
Seven questions.
This is the free back pain self-check from our St Albans studio — not a diagnosis, and not a quiz. Seven questions about how your pain behaves and what you have already tried — the same ground Teejay covers in the first ten minutes of an assessment. You will get a straight answer about what your pattern suggests, and what to do about it.
First — which is closer?
Want Teejay to read your back pain self-check before you book?
Your result is already filled in below. Add anything you think matters — how long it has gone on, what you have already tried — and Teejay will read it himself and reply personally. No obligation to book.
Back pain self-check, St Albans — what happens next
This back pain self-check is a first sort, not a diagnosis. It asks how your pain behaves, what settles it and what you have already tried, because that pattern usually says more about what will help than the name of a condition does.
If the reading suggests an assessment is the sensible next step, that is a 60-minute appointment (£85) at the studio in London Colney, a few minutes from St Albans city centre. Teejay reads your result himself before you arrive. Most people then work one to one — about £79 a session on the six-session course, or £95 as a single session — or in a small group class of no more than seven people.

If one of these is closer to what you are dealing with, the page goes into more detail than a seven-question self-check can:
- Back pain
- Sciatica
- Hip & knee pain
- Shoulder & neck pain
- Facet joint syndrome
- Hypermobility
- Osteoarthritis & osteoporosis
- Post-surgery rehabilitation
- Sports injury
- Posture correction
- Desk-work back pain
- Pilates over 60
Where the studio is

The Sogunro Practice is in London Colney, St Albans, AL2 1JG — minutes from the city centre and within easy reach of Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City and Barnet and Edgware. It is a full apparatus studio — Reformers, Cadillac, Stability Chair, Ladder Barrel, Arc Barrel and Long Box — not a Reformer-only boutique studio, which is what makes it possible to work around a painful joint rather than through it. If your back pain self-check points to an assessment, this is where it happens.
Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 7.30am–7.30pm, Friday 7.30am–5.30pm and Saturday 7.30am–1.30pm. See areas we cover or directions and contact.
When not to use this back pain self-check
Speak to your GP, or go to A&E, if you have numbness around the saddle area, a change in bladder or bowel control, pain that wakes you every night, unexplained weight loss, a recent significant injury, or a fever alongside the pain. The NHS lists similar warning signs. Applied Pilates and Osteolates Therapy complement medical care; they are not a substitute for diagnosis by a GP or specialist.
