Book a Movement Assessment in St Albans

A movement assessment in St Albans is where every client at The Sogunro Practice starts. Sixty minutes, one to one with Teejay Sogunro, working out what is actually driving the problem — so you leave knowing what to do about it.

What happens in your movement assessment

There are no forms to fill in beforehand and no lengthy history-taking. We spend the hour on you, moving.

Teejay Sogunro carrying out a one-to-one movement assessment at the St Albans studio

  1. We talk, brieflyWhat is bothering you, how long it has been going on, and what you want to get back to doing.
  2. We look at how you moveA hands-on assessment of how your body is actually working — not just the part that hurts. This is where most of the hour goes.
  3. You get a planWhat we found, explained in plain language, and a specific next step. If one-to-one work is not what you need, we will tell you that too.

Most people arrive having been told what is wrong with them, but not why it keeps happening. A hip that will not settle is often a story about how you load your foot, or how little your mid-back rotates. The assessment is the hour we spend finding that story rather than guessing at it.

Who a movement assessment is for

If you are in pain, recovering from an operation, or simply moving worse than you used to, the assessment is the sensible starting point. It is the same first hour whether you go on to reformer Pilates, clinical Pilates or Osteolates Therapy.

Movement assessment FAQs

What is a movement assessment?

It is a 60-minute one-to-one appointment that looks at how your whole body moves, rather than only at the part that hurts. It combines a hands-on assessment with movement testing on the Pilates apparatus, and it ends with a clear explanation and a plan.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No. You can book directly and most clients do. If you already have scans, a referral letter or a physiotherapy report, bring them, but nothing is required to get started.

How much does it cost and how do I pay?

The assessment is £85 and is paid securely by card when you book your slot online. Your time is held as soon as the payment goes through.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in — leggings, shorts or joggers and a t-shirt are ideal. We work in bare feet or socks. There is no need to bring a mat or any equipment.

What if I need to change or cancel?

Give us more than 24 hours’ notice and you can move to another time or cancel for a full refund. Inside 24 hours your £85 is held as credit towards a rebooking, so you do not lose it.

What happens after the assessment?

You will leave with an explanation of what we found and a specific next step. For most people that is a course of one-to-one sessions on the apparatus. If something else would serve you better, including seeing another practitioner, we will say so.
