Do I have to start with the movement assessment? Yes — all new clients begin with the £85 movement assessment. This is not a formality. Teejay needs to understand how your body moves before he can safely and effectively prescribe exercises. In particular, clients who have already tried physio, chiro, osteo and the gym often have compensatory movement patterns that generic exercise will make worse. The assessment prevents that. The £85 fee is also credited toward your first 1-to-1 block, so it reduces the cost of getting started.
Can I join a small group session without doing 1-to-1 sessions first? No. All clients must complete the assessment and at least a 3-session 1-to-1 starter block before joining group sessions. Because of this, by the time you join a group, Teejay already knows your movement patterns, your history, and your programme. You are never thrown into a class cold. This protects you and the other clients in the group.
How much does reformer pilates cost in St Albans? Reformer Pilates prices in St Albans vary widely depending on the studio and approach. At The Sogunro Practice in London Colney, a movement assessment costs £85, small group sessions from £32, and monthly membership from £129. However, price alone does not tell the full story. Most local studios offer reformer-only group classes for £18–£25 per session with 10 or more clients in the room. At The Sogunro Practice, every session uses the full STOTT apparatus — Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Stability Chair and Barrels — with a maximum of 7 clients and a programme built specifically around your movement assessment. As a result, you are not paying for a class. You are paying for a rehabilitation-informed programme that is designed for your body, your history, and your goals. Choose your Pilates Studio wisely! How does the monthly membership cancellation work? Both memberships are monthly rolling — there is no minimum term beyond the first month. To cancel, give 30 days written notice by email to info@thesogunropractice.co.uk. Your membership will end at the close of the next full billing period. Unused sessions within a paid month are not refunded or carried over.
What happens to unused sessions in a block or membership? Session blocks have a validity period: 8 weeks for the 3-session 1-to-1 block, 16 weeks for the 6-session course, and 14 weeks for the 10-session group block. Unused sessions after expiry are forfeited. For monthly memberships, unused sessions in a calendar month do not roll over to the next month. As a result, consistent attendance gives you the best value — which also aligns with the consistent practice that delivers the best results.
What is the cancellation policy for individual sessions? Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged in full. This applies to both 1-to-1 and group sessions. If you need to rearrange a session, please give as much notice as possible so your space can be offered to another client.
Is Osteolates Therapy the same as physiotherapy or osteopathy? No. Osteolates Therapy is a system Teejay developed himself, combining hands-on soft tissue treatment with targeted rehabilitation movement. It is informed by osteopathic and sports therapy principles. However, it is not physiotherapy or osteopathy — Teejay Sogunro is not a physiotherapist, osteopath, or chiropractor. If you are under active medical care, please consult your GP before booking.
Which option gives the best value? For clients who are ready to commit to consistent practice, the Premium Membership at £219/month gives the best value at £21.90 per session — versus £32 PAYG. That is a saving of over £100 per month for twice-weekly sessions. For new clients, the 3-session starter block at £259 is the recommended starting point — it gives you three sessions at £86.33 each and gives Teejay enough time to build a proper programme foundation.
Every client begins the same way — with an honest 60-minute 1-to-1 with Teejay. He'll assess how you move, explain what he finds, and give you a clear plan. No generic advice. No obligation to continue. Just clarity.
